  • The incredible disappearing...then reappearing website.

    - 29 Mar 2008
Well, Volny shut down my whole account today, and I have no idea why.  They didn't give any explanation, they just did it, so my personal website has been moved to Tripod, but on the same URL as before.  The site now doesn't look so great with all the ads on it, so I'm going to try again to relocate or redesign it.  We'll have to see about all of that.  In any case, I've uploaded a number of new photos to Flickr and iPernity in the past few days, continuing with my travel photos from last summer…

  • Sorry for my inactivity everyone....here's an update! :-)

    - 21 Mar 2008
Well...as has often been the case lately, I don't have much in the way of news, but enough has happened that I should at least write an update.  First of all, on the positive side, one of my photos on Flickr: www.flickr.com/photos/14629221@N00/2140197756 made the Explore page on Flickr.  Since is only the second time this has happened, I'm still quite happy about it even though its bounced on and off Explore erratically this week.      On the negative side, though, I have to a…

  • So much still to do....

    - 30 Jan 2008
A very belated Happy New Year to everyone.  I have to apologize for my very-slow return to photography.  I've had a tremendous amount to do with my "real" job, i.e., the one that actually makes me money, as well as with my ongoing 3D modelling projects, of which I should have examples of on iPernity and DeviantArt soon.  I still have to update my own website, as it's still announcing my December video show, and I would do that right now except that I have so much to do!!!  I'll certainly get…

  • More and more stuff....

    - 27 Dec 2007
I've been editing and uploading new photos, or rather, photos from the summer, furiously since last report, and now I've got stuff up from my trips to Warsaw, Copenhagen, Fakse, Malmo, and Liberec, as well as some new Cercany and Prague stuff.  I'm trying to get as much of it onto Flickr and iPernity as possible before 2008, as after New Year's I'll have a massive amount of new photos on top of my current backlog.  It sort of astonishes me that I've shot this much material this year, especially…

  • Massive Upload! (Of Archival Stuff)

    - 07 Dec 2007
In explanation to why my stream is suddenly flooded with old photos from 2005, I did a massive 8.6MB upload today of old stuff I shot in Ceske Budejovice, Pecka, Brno, and Bratislava in 2005.  More will be on the way tomorrow or the next day, as I have quite a backlog to do.  Please check out the photos, of course, but I doubt I'll have time to have any of them scored in competitions on Flickr until I have more of them in the stream.  Incidentally, I now have over 1000 photos online!!  First…

  • More Archival Stuff, Part 3

    - 06 Dec 2007
I managed to upload the latest black and whites and Lomos of Prague by Tuesday, but unfortunately I didn't get to writing this until today.  Part of the reason for this, I should say, was that it took me until yesterday to get all the uploads done to my various online galleries, which are now spread out over quite a few services.  To give an update on what I've been working on, I've been doing a marathon of film developing and scanning this week, and in a few hours I'll be picking up the las…

  • The Bernina Express and Other Stuff

    - 02 Dec 2007
I've been fairly busy uploading stuff this week, although I've deliberately held back somewhat so that people can notice everything.  My most notable uploads have been from my 1998 trip on the Bernina Express on the Rhatische Bahn (Rhaetian Railway) from Pontresina to Tirano in Switzerland.  This was one of my most exciting rail trips ever, and yielded some of my best photos, or at least that's my opinion.  Reviews on the various scoring groups on Flickr have been good to very good, so I'm satis…

  • Various Stuff Regarding the National Railway Historical Society (NRHS)

    - 20 Nov 2007
Every year, the National Railway Historical Society hold their National Convention in some railroad-oriented city in the U.S., with the next one scheduled for June 16th-22nd, 2008 in Fort Worth, Texas.  Since the Society is divided into regional Chapters, this one will be hosted by the North Texas Chapter.  I don't expect to attend this one, as it's probably too late to make reservations and in any case I'm not sure if I'll even be in the country, but in two previous years, in 1995 and 1998,…

  • More Archival Stuff, Part 2

    - 10 Nov 2007
Today I uploaded the latest in a series of older Prague photos from the spring and summer.  I've got a few more coming still, but I'm thinking of first uploading some stuff that I have deeper in my archives.    That stuff is mostly old stuff from the 1990s relating to my travels with the National Railway Historical Society in the United States, although some of it is European as well.  Watch my stream!!  :-)

  • More archival stuff on the way....

    - 06 Nov 2007
Today concluded my uploads from my hiking trips earlier in the summer, and now before I get back to the chronology of events this summer I'm going to upload a few days' worth of archival stuff from December 1998-April 2007, which unfortunately won't start today (I have to sleep tonight), but which will probably begin tommorrow or the next day.  I don't think that this is an idle pursuit in light of my current backlog of new stuff, as the new stuff still hasn't been sorted through or edited to re…

  • Surprise and....oops.

    - 30 Oct 2007
Reviewing what to upload next today, I discovered two things.  First of all, my Sumava photos were submitted out of chronological order, as the trip was Lipno-Sumava(the Plesne Jezero hike I mean)-Rozmberk-Austria, and now as of today, when I uploaded to forgotten Rozmberk photos, it's Lipno-Austria-Sumava-Rozmberk.  Oh well....I'm still pleased with how the photos came out, and with my first uploaded Prague photo in some time, the one of the statue in Loretanske Namesti (any info on this statue…

  • Sumava! :-)

    - 29 Oct 2007
Well, today I finished uploading the last of my Sumava photos to Flickr and iPernity, just barely, or at least until I make another trip there.  I'll now be getting back to the chronology of events from this summer.....for awhile.  I've still got to upload the Prague photos I shot while my friend Graham was here, and then the shots I took on my latest hiking trip to Josefuv Dul.  Then I'll probably do some catching up with old stuff again.  In any case, lots of cool stuff is on the way....I hope…

  • So much more to upload.....

    - 11 Sep 2007 - 1 comment
I know that it's only been a short time since my last blog entry, but I should announce that I've uploaded some more photos from the Krivoklat steam trip, with many more photos, from my Sumava trip of a few months ago, being put on hold until I have them all scanned.  I have higher hopes for them, but we'll have to see what you think.  I still also have several rolls of Prague photos, my photos from Warsaw, my photos from Copenhagen and Malmo, my photos from Liberec, Litomysl, Lipnice, and Plzen…

  • My first-ever Photo Blog! :-)

    - 09 Sep 2007
Photo Blog, September 9th, 2007 To start off with, I should say that I'm not the photo blog type, or even the blog type, but perhaps I figured I could introduce people to new work and tell people what's in progress to keep their interest....if indeed they're interested in what I'm doing at all. As for the current situation, my work is currently exhibited on Photo.net, Facebook, DeviantArt, Flickr, rrpicturearchives.net, and iPernity, with a total of maybe 700-some-odd shots, all but a few…
